Regarding the current match, this is wht my friend ANOOP SAXENA..and i agree with his analysis:
After the toss, I thought, India's first innings score might be around 250 or 300+ depending on Dravid's innings but it did not concern me when it happened, frankly. I expected it, since in these ideal bowling conditions Only Dravid, Chopra, Laxman?? and Yuvraj(since he comes in late and the ball is old and the mornng seam conditions are gone) could have survived. Pathan was a pleasant revealation. THE GUY CAN REALLY BAT. Now I think India have a very good chance of winning this match. The reason being, I think Pakistan might be folded out for 400 at the most or if the Indian bowlers extract the maximum out of the early morning conditions, then around 240-280. Now comes the best part. Given the surface, third day will be the best for batting, and thats when I think India will score lots of runs. 350- 400 (450 - 500, if Sehwag gets going). The reason being, Gul Omar, for all his wicket taking spell, without any speed wont bother Indians on the 3rd or the 4th day. He is like India's Debasis Mohanty with lesser pace. Yes Shoaib can change things for Pakistan, but then he should really get his line right. And the way Danish was turning the ball it would be turning square on 4th and 5th day.
Right now I give India a very good chance.
I think one very important point, that dravid has made is, history comes to
a naught. And these guys actually are least bothered about history.
How many times, can you recall, that an Indian team was 147/7 and went on to
score 286? And winning out of crunch situation (citing one day examples
natwest and 4th ODI against Pak, test match against Aus in Cal and Adelaide)
has almost become a feature with this team. Simply because they are playing
and behaving like a team, shouldering responsibility. (Which reminds me, the
displeasure of Sachin in the press on the declaration was so much against
the team spirit)
About Pak chasing???? I think the target would be more than 250 for Pak but
even if it is less I would not give Pakistan an outright chance to win it.
They dont have Moin Khan and Razzak. Yaseer Hamid is a good batsman but
lacks experience (and nerves for crunch situations, right now). It would all
boil down to Inzi and Youhana.
